Google Reverses Free Apps Exclusion

In 2011 Google consolidated its offerings for nonprofits under the Google for Nonprofits program. Along with the consolidation came some policy changes that were not so warmly received by a large chunk of the nonprofit community.

To make a long story short, in 2011, Google’s modified nonprofit eligibility guidelines excluded “places or institutions of worship (e.g., churches, ministries, temples, synagogues),” upsetting a large group in the nonprofit community.

While sifting through some Google Apps information, we came across a blog post from last week at the Chronicle of Philanthropy announcing Google’s reversal of this exclusion, restoring its offering to a large group of nonprofit organizations, but with a catch.
